Pure or direct cremation services

Pure or Direct Cremations, often referred to as Unattended Cremations, have become increasingly more popular for the following reasons:

  • Cost – Keeping the funeral arrangements simple limits the financial burden placed on families and also allows for any money possibly remaining within the deceased’s estate to provide financial security for offspring and their families.
  • Emotional trauma – The committal at the crematorium, traditionally when the curtains close around the coffin, is undoubtably emotional and often traumatic for families to endure. Not being present, takes this additional pressure away completely.
  • Wait times and availability – When making funeral arrangements, families often need to consider other members of the family’s work and prior commitments and then, in turn, link this in with availability of the crematorium which can create delays in finding a date that works for everyone.
  • Expectations – Mourners attending a traditional funeral service ‘expect’ to see flowers, receive a printed Order of Service and attend a gathering afterwards whereby the newly bereft family are ‘expected’ to provide refreshments and engage in conversation. Many families would simply like to be together quietly and privately afterwards.

HOWEVER, companies offering ONLY this service, have restrictions such as

  • The deceased must be in Hospital
  • The deceased cannot be dressed in their own clothes
  • The deceased cannot be viewed
  • The deceased will not rest at a funeral home within a Chapel of Rest
  • The deceased will not be cremated at a local Crematorium

A commitment to care

We (Daniel and Sarah) are dedicated to offering compassionate and tailored services to all families. Whether you seek a fully personalised funeral or direct cremation, our commitment to care never changes.

We always recommend that families carefully review the options offered for pure and direct cremations, especially those of larger corporate companies and providers, as not all are created equally. Also, to make sure that you fully understand where your loved ones will rest, and the facilities involved in their care until the cremation takes place. These details are essential to avoid disappointment, stress and further costs.

With our emphasis on families and friends, we ensure that your loved one is cared for close to home, by people who truly understand how important this is.
