Reception Venues

Following a funeral, people often wish to gather and to share their memories of their departed loved one over a meal, or afternoon tea. Traditionally this was done in the deceased persons home, but today there is a move towards using another venue.

Please ask us if you would like assistance in organising catering in a private home, or suggestions for venues to hold the reception.

Some of our past clients have used the following local venues:

  • The Three Tuns – High Street, Sutton Coldfield.  Telephone 0121 355 2996
  • Four Oaks Carvery  – Belwell Lane, Sutton Coldfield. Telephone 0121 308 1460
  • Walmley Social Club – Fox Hollies Road, Sutton Coldfield. Telephone 0121 351 1253

Specialist Services and Repatriation

We are proud to be qualified and experienced Funeral Directors, able to provide a traditional funeral service to a very high standard, but also to turn our hands to the more unusual requests that require the attention of an undertaker such as advising families regarding repatriation.

If you require one of these services then please contact us for help and advice. We will have to take some information from you in order to provide a personalised quotation.

Welcome to Grace Mary House Funeral Home

Our Funeral Home, Grace Mary House,  was purposely and sensitively designed to serve you in your time of need, and sets the standard for other Sutton Coldfield funeral homes to follow.

Our facilities here include a beautifully furnished reception area, private arranging room in which to discuss funeral details, dedicated private Chapels of Rest to visit your loved one and a large chapel which may be used for the funeral service itself for a Memorial service or evening private family visiting reception.

Many people have told us that one of the most important things we need to do is listen.  This is easier to do in private and it’s what we do well.

Our light decor has been done for a reason. Mentally and physiologically people feel more comfortable surrounded by light colours, and, whilst visiting a funeral home can be upsetting, we have tried to make the environment as relaxing as possible.

Cremated Remains Options

We will collect and store the cremated remains for you for up to three months. After this time, you will need to decide on the next resting place for them.

We will be happy to discuss all of your options with you as it is an important decision.  It can range from an interment in a cemetery or churchyard, scattering at sea and decrative urns and caskets so that they may be kept at home to more futuristic options such as diamonds, paperweights and jewellery.

In our Walmley funeral home, Sutton Coldfield, we have a wide variety of caskets on display and an extensive collection of environmentally friendly caskets including ones made of rock salt and papier mache. These eco friendly caskets are suitable for earth and water burial.  We also have a selection of keepsake caskets – which are small caskets which hold a token amount of the cremated remains.  We also have examples of beautiful woven wicker and bamboo caskets, and wooden caskets made from Paulonia wood – a lighter weight alternative to oak.

“Personal Wishes” Pre Planning

Some people have difficulty making their wishes known to their loved ones, others want to seek advice and assistance from a Funeral Director before the funeral is needed but do not require a pre-paid arrangement. You may know about the personal wishes of your loved one regarding what they would like at their funeral and wish to record their wishes whilst emotionally able.

Funeral wishes are often included in Wills, but this is not always appropriate as the content of the Will is sometimes not known until after the funeral has taken place.

Whatever the circumstances, if you know how you would like the funeral to occur and want to record your “Personal Wishes” with Daniel Ross Funerals, for future plans, then please contact us.

We can provide relevant documentation to ensure a record of your “Personal Wishes” is kept at our Eachelhurst Road, Sutton Coldfield funeral home. Additional copies can be made for your records.

No payment towards the funeral is needed until the funeral is needed. Once your wishes are recorded with us all you need to do is let your next of kin or executor know.

Your wishes can be added to and changed by you at anytime, without penalty.

There is no obligation with this arrangement, and it is a service provided free of charge, for your peace of mind.
